Why speed decides these cases

You have seven days to fight your IRP — and the clock is ticking.

An IRP isn't a court case with months of runway. RoadSafetyBC gives you exactly seven days from the date you were served to apply for a review — late applications aren't accepted, and once the window closes, the prohibition stands no matter how strong your case was. The most expensive mistake drivers make is waiting to see if it sorts itself out. It won't.

7Days — exactly — to apply for your RoadSafetyBC review
1Call to know exactly where you stand

Know what you're facing

It's not a criminal charge. That's why this moves so quickly.

An IRP is an administrative penalty under B.C.'s Motor Vehicle Act. It's issued at the roadside, it takes effect immediately, and it never has to pass in front of a judge. No trial, no Crown, no presumption of innocence — the officer's paperwork is the case against you.

The good news hides inside the same fact: administrative decisions can be reviewed. Testing procedure, device calibration, how the documents were served, gaps in the officer's notes — cases crack on details like these every week. But a review has to be requested, built, and filed inside the window.

An IRP is challenged through a RoadSafetyBC review — not a criminal court. The adjudicator who decides your case will never see you. They'll see the file. Ours are built to win on paper.

03

We file and fight

Your challenge is filed inside the seven-day window, argued by counsel with one goal: getting your licence back.

After the call

What drivers say.

I couldn't have been in better hands . The team's approach was impeccable. On the days I felt most defeated they were always there with encouragement and a plan

L.L.

They were also willing to work with my unique financial situation, I may not have been able to access such great representation otherwise.

E.B

I had a great experience working with What The Law. My lawyer kept me reassured throughout the entire process and explained everything very clearly, which made the situation much easier to navigate.

Good to know

Before you call — the questions everyone asks.

Is the first consultation actually free?
Yes. A lawyer reviews your paperwork and gives you an honest read on your chances — no fee, no obligation. If your case isn't worth fighting, we'll tell you.
How long do I have to act?
Seven days from the date you were served — a hard deadline, and RoadSafetyBC does not accept late applications. Building a proper review takes real time inside that week, so the work starts the moment you call.
Is an IRP a criminal charge?
No — it's an administrative penalty, decided on paper rather than in criminal court. That's what makes it fast, and it's also what makes it reviewable.
What does it cost to fight?
Quoted up front after your free review, no surprises. You'll know the number before you decide anything.
Do you take cases outside Vancouver?
Everywhere in B.C. Reviews are argued on the file, so distance never weakens your case.
